Brazilian Manga Rosa

Brazilian Sativa via Africa

Named for a strain of mango, Manga Rosa has been in Brazil for hundreds of years but originally purportedly came from Africa, adapting to the Eastern Brazilian tropical climate. The variety is a classic Sativa that grows tall with long branches of spaced out nodes and long thin buds. The leaves are long and thin as one would expect of a Sativa, and the light green colas produce copious orange or pink pistils. This is the Sativa that was used to create White Widow, and gained lots of fame in the 1970’s.

Due to the height and side branching, the strain is best grown outdoors in warm temps where it can yield quite nicely. Usually harvested under 12 weeks, it can sometimes take up to 14 weeks. A true Manga Rosa may be hard to find outside of Brazil. The sweet mango flavored nugs provide a very uplifting energetic effect that may be too active for some people.
